Experimental test of automatic flaps to be used in controlling model rocket altitude, intended to be implemented the NASA SL competition. The 3-inch diameter cardboard tube rocket was designed to be cheap, achieve an altitude of 1500 feet, and gather test data to determine feasibility for use on a full scale USLI rocket.
Unfortunately, the vehicle crashed during its first test flight before any usable data could be gathered.
